Hiking in Provence
a 11-day adventure: outline itinerary

The name sings of colourful landscapes, aromatic plants, good wines and perfumes. It offers all this and more in a land that boasts three thousand years of history and plenty to show for it :ancient chapels, walled villages, hidden ruins, quiet waterways and lively towns.

Provence is situated in the south-eastern corner of France, near the Mediterranean Sea, between the Rhone valley and the southern Alps.

Our discovery tour starts in NICE on the French Riviera, then on to Grasse and Castellane. We are near the Verdon canyon, the deepest in Europe, and we will explore this region for four days. Haute-Provence is a land of lavender and thyme, of ceramics and perfume, of blue lakes and scenic trails. We will traverse it from Castellane to Moustiers.
A short journey to Apt and we enter "true" Provence for a taste of its splendid wines, its "pastel" landscapes favoured by many artists. From the Vaucluse plateau and majestic Mont Ventoux to Luberon, from cherry groves to sun-lit villages and isolated abbeys, five days are hardly enough to take it all in, but sufficient to make you understand why Provence is so "spéciale".
The trip ends in Avignon.

This is a hiking trip made more comfortable thanks to great accommodations and of course the mini-bus follows us around carrying the luggage which means light day-packs and customised hikes.

May and June are the best period for flowers, September and October for the wonderfull lights and colors.
